Before I used to love my gel eyeliners. These were the only kind of eyeliners I used on a daily basis. But recently I kind of got tired of all the brush stuff, I just wanted an easy everyday eyeliner that you could apply without thinking which brush to use etc. I already had ELF Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Teal, it was ok with its quality so I decided to order it in 2 more shades. I’ve tried them out and here’s what I think.
Packaging and design: 9 out of 10.
It comes in a small carton packaging. Luckily this one is very easy to open. The eyeliner itself looks like a pen. Packaging is good, I’ve got no complaints about it.
Brush: 7.5 out of 10.
The brush is actually a felt tip which consists of fibers. They start getting out of each other with time, you can see that happening with my teal eyeliner which I bought first. But it is still ok to work with. I would like it to be more fine and more smooth though.
Now let’s go on to the swatches. I’ve got my ELF Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in 3 shades: teal, midnight and black:
ELF Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Teal.
This is a dark teal shade. It has a great color payoff – the reason I wanted to repurchase these eyeliners in the first place. It is not too wearable though, I find it hard to wear on its own. But it does look nice when blended into contrasting makeup. On the photo I used it on my lower lash line:
ELF Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Midnight.
This is a very dark and deep blue, almost black. It is pretty on the eyes and has a good color payoff.
ELF Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Black.
This was a surprise! Because this black is not black at all. It is semi-transparent asphalt grey. Which means, that I will have to keep looking for an easy go-to eyeliner pen. But it looks very descrete and actually I am happy with it!
These eyeliners are great what refers to their price/quality. But they are not completely waterproof. They do last through almost the whole day, they don’t irritate my eyes. The color payoff is good with 2 shades. Black eyeliner on the other hand is not black at all, which could be disappointing most people as black is the most popular eyeliner shade.
Overall note: 7.5 out of 10.
Price: 1 euro each.
