Maybelline Color Tattoo…The famous cream eyeshadow! Every single one American beauty guru is talking about them. And recently they were on discount in my local store so I decided to give them a try and test them out by myself.
I bought them in 3 shades that I thought might look nice plus I didn’t have anything like that in cream texture yet. So I took number 50 eternal silver, 70 metallic pomegranate and 65 gold pink. And this is where you might be thinking “Huh? I’ve never heard of shades like that!” And that could be right. Because I bought mine in France, where Maybelline is called Gemey-Maybelline and some of the products have different names. So, to be clear, today I will be doing the reviews for the following products of Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hr:
|70 Metallic Pomegranate||30 Pomegranate Punk|
|50 Eternal Silver||60 Silver Strike (from Metal Collection)|
|65 Pink Gold||55 Inked in Pink (from Metal Collection)|
Packaging and design: 8 out of 10.
Packaging in your country may be different: I bought my Maybelline Color Tattoo’s in France and here they come in awful plastic that is really hard to open. I hate that kind of packaging! But ok, the packaging of the eyeshadow itself is way better: actually, it is quite standard for cream eyeshadow, a glass pot. There is 4 grams/0.14 fl oz of product.
Texture: 8 out of 10.
The texture of the Maybelline Color Tattoo is very creamy, soft, silky, when I swatched them I was like “Wow! Looks good!”. I was a bit less impressed with 50 Eternal Silver/60 Silver Strike though.
Maybelline Color Tattoo in 50 Eternal Silver/60 Silver Strike from Metal Collection:
This is a light grey metallic shade. It looks very pigmented on the finger but unfortunately it was not the same once applied on the eyes. There I must say: I always use my favourite eyeshadow base, Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion but in this case it didn’t help. The eyeshadow started to crease immediately and looked transparent on the eyes. It’s not something I could wear on its own: you need to use an eye pencil. It looked so boring! I also didn’t like the metallic finish.
Maybelline Color Tattoo in 70 Metallic Pomegranate/30 Pomegranate Punk:
This is a dark burgundy shade with golden glitter. I thought it was gorgeous when I swatched it! And again, once applied to the once it turned into…plain dark purple shade. Nothing interesting at all! And yes, it started to crease again. It was a huge disappointment!
Maybelline Color Tattoo in 65 Pink Gold/55 Inked in Pink from Metal Collection:
This is a warm soft dusty pink with golden and pearl glow. It has a metallic finihs. This eyeshadow worked the best for me: it looked ok on the eyes, applied nicely and I didn’t notice any creasing.
I am disappointed. I expected something that was nicely pigmented, that you could wear by itself. Aplly and go, easy and pretty! But this is not it: it looks incredibly pigmented when you swatch it but on the eyes it looks dull. Just standard boring eyeshadows that started to crease very soon. Eyeshadow base – maybe, it’ll be good for that and I think this will be the only use I’ll find for these eyeshadows. But I can’t wear Maybelline Color Tattoo by itself. Besides, like many other Maybelline products, I notice some allergic reactions: I can’t wear them for a whole day long as my eyes start to itch and my eye lids feel heavy. Too bad Maybelline!
Overall note: 6 out of 10.
