Who hasn’t heard about Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair? Everyone has! This skincare line has truly become a legend. It has been called the year’s best skin serum and cream in different years and magazines. A while back when we were still in China I desperately needed a good eye cream. The ones that I had irritated my eyes badly and just didn’t work for me. At all. So when I went looking for a new one I wanted to make sure I wouldn’t pick something bad again. As you can guess, I went for Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Recovery Complex.
Phew what a long name! Don’t mix it up with the regular skin serum and with eye serum: this product is an eye cream.
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Recovery Complex: Product Description
Inspired by groundbreaking DNA research, Estée Lauder revolutionizes eye repair so you’ll see a reduction in the look of every key sign of aging around eyes. Use this age-defying formula and help repair the appearance of past damage caused by every major environmental assault.
Repairs the eye area from past damage.
A lightweight, eye serum-gel which works instantly to help repair past damages whilst protecting the delicate eye area from future damages. Anti-oxidants and lipids replenish the skin’s natural protectants. Proven moisture barrier strengthens the skin to resist external aggressors and prevent damage from UV exposure.
Boosts collagen to smooth fine lines, wrinkles, reduce puffiness and brighten dark circles.
Sounds good doesn’t it!
This cream comes in a huge box with a tiny cream in it. Well actually it has a standard size (15 ml/0.5 oz) but it looks so tiny compared to the box!
There’s also a little spatula. Very handy because there’s no pump in this cream.
I would say this is more of a gel than like a real cream. Despite its quite light texture, it hydrates pretty well. This cream absorbs pretty fast so you don’t have to wait long before applying your makeup. Oh yes, you can use it both for day and night despite the word ‘night’ in the name.

The thing I see at once are the…silicones! Directly after the first ingredient, water. But don’t worry, I’ve got some good news for you, too: there are also some moisturizing ingredients (such as petrolatum which is a basic vaseline, algae extracts and squalane) and anti-oxidants (different plant extracts, Birch, Tocopheryl acetate or more simply, Vitamin E).
When I first applied this cream I was so happy! My eyes felt hydrated, fresh and the skin was so tight. So I kept using this cream hoping that this effect will become permanent. I’ll explain what I mean by that: directly after I wash my face my skin feels incredibly dry so I have to apply some cream every time. I expected my skin to feel less dry after I’ve used this cream for some time but…this was not the case. My eyes do feel hydrated after I applied the cream it’s just that it’s very temporary. I guess that’s due to silicones: they give that instant velvety and smooth feeling but it doesn’t last long. What I did like about this cream was that it didn’t irritate my eyes, which is quite rare as my eyes are sensitive. I also liked its gel texture: it absorbs very quickly. It didn’t do any difference for my dark circles, neither did it for the fine lines (except that they were smoothened out after each time that I applied the cream but now that I’ve used it up, they’re still there). In the end, I think this eye cream isn’t really worth the money.
Overall note: B-.
