Apparently this winter will be the coldest winter in the last 100 years in Europe. As for now, I think it’s a bit exaggerated but normally, January and February are the coldest months of the year. As a girl who was born in cold Russia, I know how important it is to protect your skin in all the possible ways from cold. Using a more nutritive cream and a scarf will help a lot of course. But believe me, I know everything about frozen nose, dry skin or chapped lips. A good makeup primer might help a lot protecting your skin, too! So today I will review Le Blanc de Chanel.
Le Blanc de Chanel Sheer Illuminating Base: Product Description
A phenomenally successful icon, BLANC DE CHANEL enters a new era in Spring 2008. Completely reformulated, this Sheer Illuminator Fluid acts as a light source on the surface of the skin, while also giving a feeling of total comfort. TIPS FROM THE CREATORS – BLANC DE CHANEL can be used: Either before your foundation for a radiant glow, or blended to your foundation to lighten it slightly and give more glow.
“Giving a feeling of total comfort” – sounds good doesn’t it? Let’s see what’s inside:

Bing, the ingredient number 2 is ethylhexyl palmitate – a kind of a lubricant that gives a smooth appearance to the skin but is unfortunately pretty acne-prone and irritating ingredient. It might cause some problems for people with acne-prone and sensitive skin. Further there are a lot of chemical ingredients, this is not a natural product, and they haven’t even tried. But again, it’s a base and normally the ingredients list of a primer look like this. Or worse! But people with sensitive skin, beware as it also contains parabens, alcohol and fragrance.
Packaging of Le Blanc de Chanel is made of matte glass, there’s a plain opening on top. There’s 30ml/1 fl.oz. of product in it.
The base itself has a white color. It feels very silky and smooth. It has whitening properties and the pores seem less visible, it also covers minor wrinkles.
I like the effect of this base: it does protect my face from cold and all the weather conditions. My skin feels hydrated and even though I know that it actually isn’t, this is just the work of emollients that make my skin smooth and plumped it it’s still a pretty feeling. I can use it both in the summer and in the winter: in the winter just as a basic primer, before applying my foundation to make sure it lasts longer, the skin looks brighter and healthier and for a more pleasant feel. In the summer I love mixing it with a tinted moisturizer. That way it gives less coverage and has a lighter shade so you can also use it with foundations that are too dark/give too much coverage. But I can’t use this primer several days in a row: as my skin is very sensitive and my pores get clogged easily, I have to give my skin a break after a couple of days.
