The summer is happening right now and there’s no place for undesired body hair during this time of the year! So, my search for the best way to remove body hair continues! Before I already tried out and reviewed shaving and hair removal cream and now it’s time for the wax!

I’ve tried out many different brands of wax, I’ve done it at a beauty salon and at home. I also have a waxing machine but I decided that I should review a simple wax that everyone can get at the drugstore. Basically you have to warm it up in the micro oven for about 1 minute and then it’s ready to use!

Veet Gel Wax Product Description

Introducing gel wax from Veet. It is so effective that it works from the 1st application.** The easy to use gel, with a delightful fresh Aloe fragrance, will leave your skin moisturised and give you touchable smoothness that lasts for up to four weeks. Warm before use – carefully follow the directions for use indicated on the leaflet inside the pack.

**Must be applied in very thin layers to get best efficacy.

How to Use

3 STEPS FOR BEAUTIFUL AND SMOOTH SKIN.

1. With the spatula, take a small amount of wax and apply A VERY THIN LAYER (almost invisible) onto your skin. Always apply the wax onto the skin in the direction of hair growth (for legs apply knee to ankle). Make sure the area covered by the wax is shorter than the strips.

Beauty tip : For best and most effective results, make sure the layer of wax is very thin (less than 1mm thickness).

2. Immediately place the strip over the layer of wax, ensuring that there is at least 1cm at the bottom which is wax free. Smooth the strip over the wax in the direction of hair growth.

Beauty tip : Keep the skin taut to avoid discomfort. Hold the skin taut with one hand, and with the other hand grip the bottom of the strip.

3. In one swift and decisive movement, remove the strip against the direction of hair growth (for legs pull from ankle to knee).

Beauty tip: Never lift the strip upwards, but keep it parallel and as close to the skin as possible! Keep the strip after use. Wash them with hot water and reuse them the next time you wax.

Hazards and Cautions

Always remove lid and foil seal before heating the wax. Overheated wax may cause burns. Before use read the directions for use, recommended heating times and precautions on the leaflet inside the lid. Do not dispose of the leaflet until the jar is empty. Designed for use on legs, underarms, bikini line, arm, and upper lip. Waxing is not suitable for elderly or diabetics. 24 HOURS before every use, TEST YOUR SKIN REACTION following the instructions in the leaflet. In case of ingestion, consult a doctor immediately and show the outer pack.

Ingredients

Hydrolyzed Corn Starch, Glucose, Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Almond Oil Glycereth-8 Esters, Sodium Benzotriazolyl Butylphenol Sulfonate, Aqua,

Under the lid of the box you can find the full product description and the spatula with the heat indicator. I’ve already warmed up the wax on the photo:

Always make sure to check the temperature before applying the wax! We want to get rid of undesired body hair and not burn your skin ;)

When the wax is too hot, you will see a glowing red cross on the spatula:

The difference between the gel wax and the other kinds of Veet wax is that when it starts cooling off, there’s a tiny film:

So what you can do best to make sure the hair will be removed easily is to keep stirring the wax with the spatula, then apply a bit on your skin and then apply a cotton stripe on it directly. Otherwise it will not stick just as good and it will be harder to remove the hair!

I used my hand to show you how the Veet Gel Wax works. As some people might be really sensitive to those kind of pictures, I placed it under a spoiler. There you can see my hand before waxing:

My Opinion:

Veet Gel Wax is a great product, it removes (almost) all the hair from the desired zone. It does go with a bit of pain but you’ll get used to it eventually. I did and now I can use it even in the most delicate zones such as bikini. It removes 90% of the hair but you should let it grow a bit before waxing otherwise the wax will not stick enough and the hair will not be removed. As to the Veet products, I prefer the standard wax (not the gel one) although the gel one works pretty good, too.

  • Where to Buy:

Boots

Waxing in general:

I think waxing is a great method what refers to price-quality. I’ve been waxing my bikini zone for over 5 years now and it’s the only method I can use in that area. Yes it is pretty painful in the beginning but you get used to it and it gets more and more bearable every time.

Advantages of waxing:

Removes hair for a longer period of time (2-3 weeks)

The skin is smooth

This method is budget-proof (if you’re doing it at home)

Disadvantages of waxing:

Pretty painful

Your hair should be at least 5mm long
